An opto tacho merely emits an analogue signal. A tacho encoder emits an incremental signal from an incremental encoder or emits a linear analogue signal equal to the rotational speed of the encoder shaft. The tacho can be fitted with a mechanical overspeed switch and is very resistant to axial and radial loads. Double or triple assembly is possible in order to obtain redundancy. Both versions are mainly used in heavy industrial applications.
The basis models:

- Thickness solid shafts: 11, 12 and 14 mm
- Hollow 30 mm shaft (composite or aluminum reduction hubs from 10 to 28 mm available)
- Also available in stainless steel
